![]() ![]() I decided to buy this muzzle brake, since my Thompson center compass came with a threaded barrel. No shock waves and I didnt find the noise to be overly offensive with just electronic muffs on. I put this on my American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor and love it! RUGER PRECISION RIFLE® HYBRID MUZZLE BRAKE I have RPR it works great I need a break for my 308 I put this on my Ruger American Magnum 7mm. Half the felt recoil and tighter groups are worth every penny for this item. I replaced the standard flash hider on my RS762 with the RPR Hybrid Muzzle break and the results were fantastic. Its quite evident theres no quality checks before packaging. Poor quality! Large metal burrs on drilled portholes! This make cleaning the brake a bit of a pain, though this may be my fault for leaving the brake on when I clean. My only gripe is that there are metal burs left over from the machining process in the ports. Of course its still loud for nearby shooters, but definitely not as bad, they wont hate you for shooting with this. ![]() But I shot this while only wearing my earplugs and honestly, the gun actually sounded quieter for the shooter. I was very worried that getting a muzzle brake would make the gun sound relatively louder for the shooter, Im quite sensitive to loud noises, and normally I wear both earplugs and headphones. I like that the jam nut made it super easy to install out of the package. I purchased this for my Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor and the felt recoil change is definitely noticeable. It doesn’t give accuracy on the 6.5 because its bored for 30 caliber not 264. Poor quality ,drill burrs are horrible! Went from groups touching to 2 inch groups at 100 yards! Since I can’t send it back I’ll have to deburr it and try again. I own a ballistics lab and tested this item on my 6.5 predator. Put this on a TC Compass 6.5 Creedmoor and noticed absolutely zero difference in noise, recoil or accuracy.īrake works much better on 308 which it is made for. Just shot a 3/8 100yard 3 shot group, nice! Can you print recoil reduction numbers and sound pressure levels at the shooters ear? It does not seem to elevate sound very much unlike most other brakes that increase sound dramatically. My Ruger 308 Hawkeye Precision rifle with the new Ruger break kicks like a 243 even with 168 gr HPBT ammo! I am very impressed with your muzzle break design. Slight point of impact shift with/without brake, but accuracy not adversely impacted. Felt recoil reduction is major and sound levels are not bad at the firing line. The one on my rifle is cleanly manufactured and finished. Six plus decades of shooting and a good deal of experience with brakes. Good quality and effective reduction in recoil Its an effective enough brake for 308 and 7.62x39 and I like the easy-clock jamnut design but for $100, I honestly expected a little more fit and finish. Ruger sent me a prepaid label to ship back for replacement and the one I got threads on fine but still has razor sharp burs. Terrible burs on the cross drilled holes too. The first one I got had a bad spot on the threads and obviously would not thread onto host. I like that it uses a jam nut instead of a crush washer to time the brake. I have 2 of these brakes, both are installed on rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. ![]() Pulled off my rpr to run suppressed, put the hybrid on a kel tec rfb and it helps tremendously with recoil and noise I am most likely going to have to send the gun back to Ruger. Scopes can be immensely helpful in showing you a visual representation of where your image sits – in terms of saturation, color balance, contrast, and more. If you don’t already know how to read scopes, I would suggest that you take some time to acclimatize yourself to them. When matching shots, I usually recommend picking a wide or medium wide shot as your baseline ‘hero shot’ and then matching the other shots in that environment to it. It will take you a few more minutes up front, but you’ll save loads of time later… Especially if you decide to change the look, as then you can easily blanket apply your changes to everything without having to make individual changes to every shot. And 2) Make sure to color correct every shot in the scene or sequence you’re working on to match each other before moving on. There are two key things to remember here: 1) Do not give your image any unique style or look at this point, just give it a nice neutral baseline. The idea is that you want to work from a blank canvas once you actually start doing the creative work, and if you’re working with an image that is completely unbalanced, you are going to have a much harder time achieving the grade that you’re after… Not to mention, you’ll have an even harder time matching shots to each other in the sequence, as you won’t be able to simply apply a look that you have created for one shot to other shots in the scene. ![]() It’s all about the order in which you perform these adjustments, not necessarily which software you are using to make them.īefore you start coloring your footage, you need to balance your shots to fix any glaring issues with regards to white balance, exposure, contrast or any other technical parameter. I by no means created this approach, just like I didn’t create the notion of a three act structure – but I still find both immensely helpful in guiding my work in the right direction within each respective area of the craft.įor the purpose of this article, I am going to include a few frame grabs from DaVinci Resolve, as it’s the color software I prefer to work in (and arguably the best color grading software in existence today), but these general principles can be applied no matter what software you are using. When I color grade any project, regardless of the style, look, genre, or format – I always adhere to the general strategy outlined below, and in fact just about every professional colorist working today follows a similar flow. ![]() Color correction is no different, yet many filmmakers or amateur colorists who don’t yet have their bearings go about things in the wrong way, and in the end their work suffers. ![]() Just like when editing a movie, an assembly cut needs to be created before fine tuning a picture lock. When writing a feature length script, you need an outline before a first draft of the screenplay. Like any other part of the filmmaking process, color correction is best approached by following a general set of guidelines that allow you move through the process as effortlessly and efficiently as possible. That said, if you are set on color grading your own projects, or are simply a colorist starting out, one of the most important things you need to tackle is the order of operations with which you approach your color process. In many cases, I would advise against coloring your own work unless like myself, you also work as a dedicated colorist. With color grading software like DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Speedgrade being readily available to just about anyone with access to the internet, it’s no surprise that more and more filmmakers are attempting to color their own footage.
